DJ Instructor, Songs Incubator (Create a Mix I & II)

OBEAHMIX was sixteen when he saw hip hop DJ Kilocee scratching, cutting, mixing at Yo Mamma’s, one of the first hip hop nights run by Z-Mac in Vancouver, Canada. After saving his pennies, he eventually bought some used tech 12’s, a mixer and some old speakers. He turned his bedroom into a loud non-stop practice ground that lasted for years - learning by reading DJ magazines and watching DJs in clubs and radio stations.

In 2000, Obeahmix began volunteering in the music library at CJSF 90.1 FM radio where he then started his own show, Pirates of the Caribbean with his co-host Teef. He then landed a job as Music Coordinator at CHRY 105.5 FM radio in Toronto where he was promoted to Program Coordinator. He returned to Vancouver as Program Manager at CiTR 101.9 FM.

Obeahmix has DJ'ed at radio stations, nightclubs, festivals, restaurants, and international member only venues in Toronto, Vancouver and Hong Kong. You can catch him regularly at Soho House and on Eaton Radio HK. He is also part of True Skool events - the longest running Reggae Dancehall night in Hong Kong. For the past few years he has been teaching how to DJ at Impact HK (a charity for the homeless) and playing music for their fitness classes on a weekly basis.
